Structure Fire 11/25/2010
Warwick firefighters battled a structure fire in the early morning hours of Thanksgiving Day. Dispatched to 9 DeKay Road in the Town of Warwick at 12:54 A.M. firefighters arrived to a building fully ablaze. Because there are no hydrants in that area, mutual aid tankers from the Pine Island and Vernon fire departments were called to shuttle water to the scene. The Chester Fire Department also responded to the scene to standby with their Firefighter Assist and Search Team. Florida and Greenwood Lake fire departments were on standby in Warwick’s stations during the fire. Members of the Warwick Community Ambulance Service were also on scene to assist with firefighter rehabilitation. The building, which was destroyed by the fire, had been undergoing renovation and was unoccupied at the time of the fire. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
